Zaggle Prepaid is a fintech company that provides companies with digital tools to manage their employee expenses. This includes rewards and benefits, through prepaid cards supplied through partnerships with major banks like IDFC First Bank, RBL Bank and Yes Bank.
This allows companies to streamline their spending and give rewards and incentives to their employees.
The IPO of Zaggle Prepaid was priced at ₹ 164 per share. The IPO arrived when there was a major bull market in the small and mid cap space, yet the IPO which was priced at a premium (60+ Price to Earning), listed flat and closed its first day at a discount.
Soon after, a strong rally began which took the Zaggle Prepaid share price to an all-time high of ₹ 591.9 in December 2024. This led to over owner-ship in the stock, the number of shareholders had gone up substantially from about 21,000 shareholders at the time of listing – to nearly 1 lakh shareholders in December 2024.
With broader market weakness, the fall was inevitable as Zaggle Prepaid quickly cracked more than 30% – hitting multiple lower circuits along the way. This highlights the risks of investing in the small cap space – exits are difficult and the pain can be difficult to bear too, especially for those who are new to the stock markets, and get trapped right at the top when the “good news” and “euphoria” around a stock is at its highest.
