Olectra Greentech is an Hyderbad-based company involved in two sectors – the manufacturing of electric buses and composite polymer insulators.
The company was founded in the year 2000 and holds the distinction of being India’s first electric bus manufacturer.
Olectra Greentech also manufacturers electric trucks and trippers – along with providing charging infrastructure and technical maintenance services.
The company has quite a history of changing business interests. It started as ‘Goldstone Teleservices Limited’, with business interests in the teleservices sector.
In 2007, the company was renamed to ‘Goldstone Infratech Limited’. And finally in the year 2017, the company got its current name Olectra Greentech.
The trajectory of the share price of Olectra Greentech changed after the company started winning orders for its electric buses.
Even though the company was listed in the year 2002, the stock price remained stagnant for more than a decade and a half until 2017.
It was when the company began to manufacture electric buses that the market began to take notice of Olectra Greentech.
Even though sales remained stagnant, the market was anticipating a turnaround and a bright future in the electric vehicles business. This resulted in the Olectra Greentech share price jumping 641.8% in the year 2017.
The next big year came in 2021 when the company started winning a lot of orders. Olectra Greentech recorded highest ever sales of 563 Electric Buses and 17 Electric Tippers in the year 2022-23. And was further awarded orders of 3,239 Electric Buses and 20 Electric Tippers to be delivered in 2023, 2024 and beyond.
From 135 during the Covid-hit year of 2020, the stock price of Olectra Greentech had risen to 1346 by the end of 2023 – giving investors 10x returns in 3 years.
